We would like to know who really believes in gay rights on livejournal. There is no bribe of a miracle or anything like that. If you truly believe in gay rights, then repost this and title the post as "Gay Rights". If you don't believe in gay rights, then just ignore this. Thanks.
Crap. Must pay for my LJ and hope all my icons are automatically restored.

Ok, so for some reason I think I know something about ratings and the tv biz. I don't, at least not yet, though that's what majoring in tv is going to change. But anyway, my theory on VM is that CW is desperate for any excuse to keep it on the air. Rob Thomas and his "80% retention" talk is just wrong. VM brings two things: critical acclaim and a cult fanbase. And do you know what cult fanbases are good for? Merchandising. You can't make action figures for just any show. It doesn't work. It has to be a show that people will actually want to rush out and buy them. Calendars are a bit more commonplace, but they're also cheaper to make and sell. But, anyway, the point is, with cult shows, the money is made outside of advertising, so the ratings aren't as important as with other shows. Not that they don't count at all. They do. If VM gets ratings as poor as Runaway, it will be gone. But I'm almost positive that somewhere in the high 2's, or at least low 3's, will be good enough to guarantee a full season and maybe more. Why do I think this? This is where my deluded thinking comes in.
Why didn't CW air Not Pictured on Tuesday after GG? Wouldn't it have been really smart to give the potential audience some background info before the premiere? The answer is because CW wants the season average to stay as high as possible. My theory will prove true if they don't air repeats every week during the hiati, particularly if going up against House once AI starts. Repeats count into the season average, and repeats are always lower than new episodes. So, to help justify a fourth season, they don't want that average hurt by repeats.
And so, it's obvious that I'm correct. :D

Am I the only one who can't get any communities to load?
Quick post to say that helpmeveronica.com has been updated with a new video. Steven is wearing
cloud_watchers swag! And on YouTube, there's a HMV video from someone else, asking for a date. And one of the people affiliated with the real HMV accuses him of lying. Drama!
Am I just really slow or did no one realize that M.A.D. actually refers to mutually assured destruction, not make a date?
Ok, I know I should be writing my Sunday recap, but first, we must discuss Help Me Veronica. Because I really was all meh about it at first, but then I discovered the comments on the YouTube page. Now I'm interested. I followed the links to various LJs, and I have now friended every sock involved, I think. But now I've discovered that they're moving over to MySpace, too. Dammit. Who wants to cover that for me to make sure I don't miss out on anything?
I have no idea what's wrong with me, but I am so completely dead right now. I thought I got a pretty decent amount of sleep this weekend, but my body doesn't seem to agree with me. Maybe it's a delayed hangover. Anyway, far too dead to possibly write the recap I really really need to write. But, I must apologize. I have very few pics because my camera sucked ass. I'm hoping my video camera worked, so I at least have some stuff of Matt Czuchry. Otherwise, I am a failure. :(
So after finally leaving the house at nearly 5, instead of 4:30 like planned (what do you want from me? There's a woot-off today, and I want a bag of crap!) I got in my car and realized I needed gas. And my sister broke my odometer, so I couldn't even estimate how much further I could go on that tank. This is why she's not allowed to drive my car. She broke the left blinker a year ago, and now the odometer. So I got off at the place I always get gas, three exits after I get on 95, but the Mobile station is on the side most easily accessible while going south, not north, but I have to use Mobile, otherwise I have no excuse to make my dad pay for my gas. So, the pump is broken. But I'm really not in the mood to move the car, especially considering Speedpass likes to be finicky, and I would probably move to a pump that won't let me use the Speedpass. So I struggled to put 2.5 gallons in, which would get me to the airport and back. I get back on the highway and notice it looks like there are a few more people out now than before. But I still manage to cruise along, thinking I'll still get to the airport with enough time to go to the cheap parking. Until I realize I'm heading south. Crap. And I had already passed the last of the easy exits. So I have to go an extra 1.5 miles before getting anywhere that I can turn around. Now I've decided I'm fucked, and give up any idea of cheap parking, since I was already nervous about missing my flight. I get to the airport around 5:30, and am parked and inside by 5:40. So, perfect, just about 2 hours before my flight, and it looks like a good thing, too, since the lines look horrible. Except I'm completely done and through security and comfortably ensconced at my gate with my lappy by 6:10. So, yeah, fuck TSA advisories.
Anyway, while I'm waiting, ( 1001 movies everyone must see, stolen from Roz )

Watching VM season 2 climb the ranks on Amazon.
So, everyone go preorder it now, so it goes even higher. :D Let's at least over take Grey's, if we can't knock Lost out of the number 1 spot. (Though AD might accomplish that. So everyone go pre-order AD, too.)
I've had a post about my inabliity to eat most foods going around in my head for a while, but I've decided it makes me sound even crazier than I actually am. Oh, well. And, I'm eating all the gluten I possibly can, because I've decided that I'm going to be diagnosed with celiac on the 28th.

Also, I'm having a colonoscopy tomorrow (youngest person ever, or at least I assume so going by the average age of the other people in the GI's office) and have to do the prep today. Not fun at all. And I'm only on my second cup. Just wait until it actually kicks in.

First: OMG! I get to meet Matt Czuchry! And, in my head, I've decided that I'm also meeting Ryan Hansen! But I have no proof to back that up.
Second: Early release of Weeds! (If anyone needs it, I can provide it sometime later.)
Third: Uh, there is no third. So let's just say Lieberman lost! Yay!
Edit:
Fourth: I'm going to stalk Matthew McConaughey! He's hanging out on Miami Beach!
Fifth: My pay raise is for this pay cycle so I have a bit of extra cash for Booster, despite being sick, and the endoscopy!

So, I'm finally doing that meme that everyone in the world is doing.
sadiekate gave me S. For which I will never forgive her. Even after trimming it down, I was still left with 55 songs. So be glad I only chose 10 of those. Also, despite the fact that I'm not extremely obsessed with music, it makes me very reflective, so I will babble.
( Cut due to too much babbling )

I've decided to get a job that doesn't take advantage of me and treat me like crap. One job I'm applying for is the exact same thing I'm doing now, but the pay is at least double, and up to triple the amount I'm making now. I may have gotten this job through nepotism, but if they really feel that they need me, and I'm not just doing the grunt work that no one else wants to do (and trust me, they need me) they should pay me like a real employee.
Of course, there's still the signs left over that I haven't yet left the depressive episode, namely, I haven't registered for classes yet.

So I just finished watching the first series of the BBC The Office. And, um, no. Now, I am a fan of Ricky Gervais. I watched Extras and enjoyed it. But the difference between Michael and David is huge. And I far prefer Michael.
Michael is annoying. There's no question about that. But he's a far more sympathetic character. There are moments when you just want to cry for him. David is an asshole. That's it. It isn't the same sort of innocent cluelessness that Michael has. He's just an asshole.
An even bigger problem than that is the US The Office is an ensemble show. Though Steve Carell is billed as the lead, it's really hard to justify that simply by watching the show. Michael, Jim, Pam and Dwight are all equally as important on the show, with the rest of the office playing major roles. On the UK The Office, it's all about David. Dawn, Tim and Gareth are secondary, with the rest of the office playing barely even tertiary roles. I didn't learn a single other name, that's how insignificant their roles are. So it's not even like I can ignore David's presence.
So, in conclusion, other than the first episode, and a couple of lines and situations here and there (which are used in completely different ways) these are not the same show. At. All. Anyone who refuses to watch the US The Office, because it's just a poor imitation of the original should reconsider. The name may be the same, but the show is its own show, and should be judged on its own merit.
Next time: Jim vs Tim and why John Krasinski rocks my world.

I didn't win the raffle for Booster tickets. :( Now the really bad news: I think I might go anyway. Ok, let's think about this rationally. I currently have -20.28 in my bank account. (Well, technically 50.28, but that's only because I borrowed some money to make sure I wouldn't go into the negatives.) On the 31st, I'll get my paycheck, which will be $486.50, because I'm paid slave wages. $300 (well, 297.10) of that would go to plane fare. That leaves $169.12. A weekend pass is $229. One cocktail party is $109. Hotel is $312.40, split three ways (though maybe we can find a fourth), so $104.13. So altogether, expenses for the weekend would be $442.13. Let's say I get $486.50 on the 15th (though it might be more, since I had a couple days this pay period that I had dr. appts., like today for instance, though I will hopefully have my colonoscopy one of the days next pay period, though maybe I'll push it off to after the 15th. I'll find out today) which means on the 15th, if I spend no other money, I'll have $655.62. Which means there would be $213.49 left for accidentals. Oh, and food. (What's that?) I think I could technically make it on that.

Woot!
( Why I love Ryan Hansen: )
Also, anyone who can, go to Booster Blowout. I so wish I could go, but I have zero dollars in my bank account right now. I tried hitting my dad up for cash, but he'sstolen borrowed all my "college fund." (There's $12 grand I have little hope of ever seeing again. No, joking. It will come back eventually, if he doesn't think up a reason for why I owed it to him.) My mom might help, but probably not until two days before the event. So. I can't go. But future VM themed Booster events depend on the attendance at this one.
And, finally, anyone who hasn't yet, go read this interview with Jason Dohring, Michael Muhney and Ryan Hansen. Very, very slight spoilers that I don't think even count as spoilers. Just some general talk about where people's heads are, that sort of thing. Though there's one thing that is a tiny bit bigger, but I still wouldn't consider something really spoiled. But if you're very very very very strict, don't read it.

1) I was reading a post by someone who flies model helicopters, and started wondering what ever happened to Wallace's model plane, or whatever that thing he was flying in the pilot was, went. Did he lose all desire to be a pretend pilot as soon as Veronica showed up in his life?
2) Does anyone have a login to WSJ I could borrow? I can't figure out a backdoor in.
3) I'm on IE right now, because I'm doing front desk, and the locked symbols on flocked posts are showing up. Weird.
